Detecting Gene-Environment Interactions for Complex Traits

Event Description

The sudden availability of molecular genetic data has prompted increased study of gene-environment interactions in the social and biomedical sciences. Identifying and estimating statistical interactions comes with several analytic and inferential challenges, which are heightened when utilizing observational genomic and social scientific data. In this workshop, I articulate some of these key challenges and offer some practical guidance for conducting research in this area.

Target Audience: Graduate students, post-docs, and early career professors interested in biosocial methods and/or gene-environmental interactions.

Speaker: Dr. Sam Trejo is a sociologist and demographer interested in how social and biological factors jointly shape human development across the life-course. He uses quasi-experimental, computational, and biosocial quantitative methods and leverages three main data sources: longitudinal studies with molecular genetic data, large administrative databases, and novel nationally-representative survey experiments
